Kenshi Yonezu is beyond amazing!!! He is my all-time favorite singer. Listening in California. This video and song are great!!!
Actually this song is the theme song for"Kingdom", the Japanese real-action movie based on the manga series which has the same title. The story focuses on a fictional character Xin who is a soldier in Qin army contributed to Qin's unification in ancient China. For this reason I guess the music video starts with terracotta army discovered in Qin Shi Huang's grave which seems to be depicting Qin's army. Another interesting point of this song is the title "Yodaka" meaning nighthawks in Japanese. I guess the title is named after "Yodaka No Hoshi", the fairy tale written by Japanese famous poet Kenji Miyazawa and Kenshi really loves his works. In this story, a nighthawk is described as lonely bird bullied by other birds and he finally flied away to be a star. Kenshi's creativity is so bright that he seems to find out the similarity between Xin and Yodaka as they have lonely souls each other. Please excuse my terrible English and too long text.
